Blue Grass Airport

History: Blue Grass Field played an important role in the war effort as a supply gateway. Important wartime supplies and equipment were manufactured, repaired and stored at the Lexington Signal Depot. A steady stream of military cargo aircraft loaded and unloaded at Blue Grass Field. The military cargo flights continued after the war's end as the importance of Central Kentucky military supply facilities increased.
